Our team
Te Kotahitanga o Te Atiawa are committed to strengthening whānau, protecting our taiao, and ensuring the collective wellbeing of our people. Housing is a core focus, providing safe, affordable, and culturally grounded living options that enable whānau to thrive.
Through Te Urunga Kāinga – Te Atiawa, we create housing opportunities for our uri in two key ways:
-
Partnering with developers and project partners to build quality homes.
-
Working alongside Ka Uruora, an iwi-led collective that delivers financial education, savings, and financing solutions to help whānau achieve financial independence.
Together, we offer a range of housing pathways to support whānau at different stages of their homeownership journey:
✔ Iwi Rentals – Renting a home at discounted rates.
✔ Kaumatua Rentals – Renting a quality and affordable home that supports the wellbeing and independence of our kaumatua
✔ Shared Ownership – Co-owning a home with Ka Uruora, with a pathway to full ownership within ten years.
✔ Market Sales – Purchasing a home outright at a discounted rate, either to live in or to provide as a rental for others.
Through strong partnerships with Ka Uruora and private developers, we are building resilient, connected communities where whānau have access to secure and sustainable housing options. By aligning with Ka Uruora’s vision, we ensure whānau receive the support, education, and resources needed to achieve long-term housing and financial security.

Ka Uruora is an iwi-led initiative established by Te Kotahitanga o Te Atiawa Trust and Te Kāhui o Taranaki Trust to support whānau on their journey toward financial independence and homeownership.
Operating as a collective iwi charitable trust, Ka Uruora delivers services designed to enhance financial wellbeing and create sustainable housing opportunities for Māori.
Ka Uruora provides three core offerings—Te Uru Tahua (Whānau Saver), Te uru Ahupūtea (Financial Literacy), and Te Urunga Kainga (Housing)—giving whānau the tools, resources, and support to build a strong financial foundation. Through financial education, savings programmes, and housing finance solutions, Ka Uruora empowers iwi members to achieve long-term financial security.
Within Te Urunga Kāinga, Ka Uruora offers a range of housing pathways, including iwi-led rentals, shared home ownership, and partnerships with developers to increase Māori homeownership opportunities.
Originally established in Taranaki, Ka Uruora is now expanding to other regions, working alongside iwi across the motu to deliver essential financial and housing support to whānau.
Through a collective approach and strong partnerships, Ka Uruora ensures whānau have the guidance and opportunities needed to achieve housing security, financial empowerment, and long-term prosperity.

But this is more than just construction. When you work with us, you’re not just building houses—you’re building whare that provide security, connection, and opportunity for whānau.
If you have experience in any aspect of residential development and share our commitment to creating sustainable, culturally grounded housing, we’d love to hear from you. Join us in building strong, thriving communities.
